CBD Dosage for Pets
Interactive CBD dosage calculator
DISCLAIMER: The dosage calculator is not an exact science. We based it on our research and customer success stories. Each pet will react differently to CBD dosages. Monitor your pets' improvement until you find your pet's 'sweet spot.'
We recommend reading this page to get an understanding of how CBD oil dosage works and how to achieve maximum results from your crayoHemp products.
NOTE: The most common reason for not seeing desired results with CBD is too low a dosage. However, there is no need to get caught up on the exact milliliter amount. If, for example, your recommended dosage calls for 0.1 ml, but the dropper's marking starts from 0.25 ml, it's ok to eyeball it and fill about halfway from the tip of the dropper to the 0.25 mark.
Already a CBD pro? then let's go!
Full Dropper = 1ml when filled to the fill line. (Not to be confused with "Dropperfull")
The correct dosage of Full Spectrum CBD hemp oil for your pet depends on their weight and the condition you want to treat. (read below)
Our calculator uses the formula:
REGULAR DOSE = Pet's weight in kg x 0.25mg.
HIGHER DOSE = Pet's weight in kg x 0.5mg.
Give any daily dosage once a day, or you may divide the daily dose into two (or three) equal portions provided throughout the whole day. See "General Dosage Information" below for more information.
TIP! We suggest that you start with the minimum recommended dosage and gradually increase as needed until you find your pet's 'sweet spot.'
If you desire to speed up the process, start with the maximum suggested dosage and then gradually DECREASE the dosage every few days until you stop seeing the desired results. At this point, you will be able to increase back to the 'sweet spot' and stay there. Starting with the maximum suggested dose will almost certainly generate quicker, positive results.
NOTE: HIGH-QUALITY CBD OIL CAN BE COSTLY, SO YOU DON’T WANT TO GIVE YOUR PET MORE THAN IT NEEDS.
Understand CBD Oil Dosage to Achieve Better Results
It often takes at least 30 minutes to kick in for most problems. For some issues, it may take 24-48 hours to see results, but depending on the issue and other factors, it may take several weeks until you find your pet's "sweet spot."
Patience is the key. You might not notice a massive change in behavior from your pet immediately – in this case, don’t attempt to give them more oil until the next serving time.
Some have reported immediate results when applied during seizures.
General Dosage Information
Because there is no need to worry about overdosing your pet, it is easy to find the sweet spot of CBD oil for your pet. We recommend starting on the low end and working your way up slowly to help your pet adjust a little more.
If you started with the lower dose and decided to increase the dosage, make sure to give the lower dose a chance for about 5-7 days before you increase the dosage. The exception to this will be if the pet's issue requires immediate results.
Some issues are known to require a higher dose. For these issues, you may consider starting with a higher dosage.
Use a LOWER dose for:
- Daily health and wellness
- Boost immune function
- Old age
- Minor skin conditions
- Stimulate appetite
- Minor stress & anxiety
- Digestive issues & nausea
- Moderate arthritis & joint inflammation
- Minor aches and pains
Use a STRONGER dose for:
- Chronic pain
- Severe arthritis & joint inflammation
- Mobility issues
- Epileptic seizures
- Cancer-related symptoms
- Severe anxiety
- Extreme nausea or vomiting
To manage pain and inflammation, give every 6-8 hours or as needed. To manage anxiety, give 30 minutes before the event (thunderstorm, fireworks, leaving home, separation, traveling with your pet). For all other uses, administer once or twice a day. This will depend on your pets' body, how much they take, and how they take it. But generally, the effects of CBD can last from 2 to 6 hours so administering twice a day will keep the CBD in the system for a longer time. (Many of our customers report that twice a day seems to give best results)
Do Not Use Drops For Dosage. Use ml.
For crayoHemp oils, use the marked ml on the plastic dropper for a more accurate dosage.
A drop will be a different size and weight, depending on the oil, brand, and dropper you use. Some oils will yield large drops; others will be thin and runny and pour out of the bottle in tiny droplets that don’t weigh much. So your formulation could call for 20 drops and for one oil that might be 0.3 mg, whereas for another that might be 0.9 mg. It’s simply not an accurate measurement tool.

What Factors go into how much CBD oil you should give to your pet?
There are certain factors you must consider before answering this. Along with these factors, some pets may react differently than others, so they may need to adjust their dosages accordingly to this.
CBD pet owners should know these factors before starting using CBD products on their furry friends.
1. Physical Factors
The first thing to consider is any physical factors of dogs, such as body weight and age, which can affect the potency per mg of CBD oil.
For example, a 30-pound dog will be much more susceptible to a dose of 25 mg than a 100-pound dog. Along with this, the age of the pet can matter as well.
If a dog is full-grown but young to medium-aged, they will not be as susceptible as older dogs. Healthier dogs may need a high dose compared to an older dog depending on the reason the dog is using CBD oil.
2. Diagnosis Factors
One thing that has more of an impact than people realize are the medical conditions that caused one to start using CBD oil in the first place. Some situations require higher doses of CBD to see results, compared to less complicated conditions.
An excellent example of this is that CBD oil for anxiety, though still needing an average dose, may not need as high a dose for something like chronic pain.
